Blade Length: 3.6 inches
Grind: Flat
Steel: 440C (58-60 HRC)
Lock: Button lock
Handle Scales: G-10
Weight: 3.7 ounces
Made In: USA
Price: $100
Notes: Bead blast blade finish.
This is a "light and fast" tactical knife design whose unique blade shape would be excellent in piercing and then widens out for maximum cutting of tissue. The flat grind and tip would be excellent for tip slashes, slicing, and shearing cuts. The overall length and weight are virtually identical to those of a Spyderco Endura.
The weirdest part about this knife is that several stores have listed a different steel for it - for over a year. Honestly, it would be weird to put this type of finish on 440C and the blade does feel like 154CM. I e-mailed Ontario from their own website and they told me it is 440C.
I have no problem with 440C as long as it is hardened to 58-60 HRC as they say it is, especially when they market the knife as a tactical weapon rather than a "hard use" survival blade.
