The Stockman® is the largest three-bladed knife available from Buck. The other knives in the series are the Cadet and Trio.
A stockman is a person who looks after the livestock on a farm or a ranch, It is similar to a cowboy. So the stockman knife was a multi-purpose pocket knife designed for all the tasks that a stockman would have to do on a ranch.
Specifications:
This stockman is made in China and features a Woodgrain handle and nickel-silver bolsters.
The knife measures 3 7/8" closed and weighs 3,1 oz or 88.1g.
Blade lengths:
Modified Clip Point -- 2-3/4"
Sheepsfoot -- 2"
Spey -- 2"
The blade thickness is 2.1mm for all blades.
The blade steel is 420J2 stainless steel.
420J2 steel is a low-end, general-purpose stainless steel from the 400 series. It is also referred to as 420B.
This steel contains medium amounts of carbon and high amounts of chromium in its composition, making it high in corrosion resistance and easy to sharpen hence its popularity in knife making. 420J2 has a Rockwell hardness of 56 HRC.
