Le Thiers Par Le Sabot Slipjoint | Knife Maintenance 101
Published: 1 year ago
Urban Knife Guy shares a traditional French slip-joint folding knife in the form of the Le Thiers Par Le Sabot. He also shares his process of maintaining a knife.
Created in 1870, Au Sabot is one of the oldest French cutlery brands.
Headquartered in Thiers, the capital of the French knife-making industry, Au Sabot produces a wide range of knives in the finest French tradition.
Au Sabot is famous for its regional and folding knives. And this knife, the Le Thiers, is named after the town of Thiers.
Specifications:
Blade Length 10cm/ cutting length 8.5cm
Closed length 12cm
Overall Length 21cm
Weight 88g
Blade Style: Straight Back
Blade Grind: Flat
Blade Steel: 12c27
12C27 steel is part of the Sandvik family. It is low-end high-chromium steel that is well-liked in the knife industry because it provides outstanding wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and high hardness, key qualities that create ideal knife steel.
It is a pretty common steel among Europe Knives.
Additionally, 12C27 steel is relatively easy to sharpen, unlike other high chromium steels that take a long time due to the tough chromium carbides.
