It is with a heavy heart that I share the news that Laura Penland passed away on October 22, 2026.
Many of you in our EDC community may remember Laura and the fundraiser we organized a few months ago to help her during a difficult time.
Laura was the sister of our friend William, someone many of us know from our live streams and throughout the EDC community. Through William, we learned about Laura's situation and had the opportunity to come together to help.
So many of you generously donated, participated in our raffle and auction, and showed what this community is truly capable of when someone needs a helping hand.
Although many of us never had the opportunity to meet Laura personally, her story touched our community, and many of you became invested in her journey.
I wanted to share this news with everyone who helped, contributed, and followed her story.
To William and his family, our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
And to everyone who stepped forward to help Laura, thank you. You reminded us that this community is about so much more than knives, flashlights, and everyday carry gear. It's about people, friendships, compassion, and being there for one another.
