???? WHY I NORMALLY USE NUMBERS INSTEAD OF NAMES ON SCREEN:
I prefer showing the actual knives in motion. With only 60 seconds and 10–15 knives to show, each knife gets just a few seconds. Putting names and specs over the footage covers the knife—which viewers have complained about before.
So I use a simple numbered reference system: see a knife you like, remember the number, open the description and find it. You get to actually SEE the knife without a bunch of text covering it.
This video is different because I’m showing images with names and additional information on screen. Going forward, I’ll be returning to the video/reference-number format I prefer.
???? WHY I DON'T LIST PRICES:
Prices change constantly between retailers, sales and discount codes. In the past, listing prices has resulted in complaints when someone found a different price somewhere else.
So I simply DON'T list prices anymore.
If you like a knife, use the provided link and check the CURRENT price yourself. That gives you accurate pricing when you're actually looking at the knife instead of a price that may already be outdated.
And yes, “budget” is relative. On MY channel, I consider a knife budget-friendly if it can legitimately be purchased for UNDER $100—including sales, promotions or discount codes that bring the final price below $100. Your definition may be different, and that's perfectly fine.
⏱️ AND THERE'S ANOTHER REASON I KEEP THESE VIDEOS SIMPLE:
I'm a single dad raising kids, and YouTube is something I do on the side because I genuinely love it. I'm a one-man show, and I don't have unlimited time or resources.
Taking 10–15 individual video clips and adding names, prices, steels, materials, locks and other information to every clip can turn a ONE-MINUTE Short into HOURS of editing. I simply don't have that kind of time.
The numbered reference system lets me spend my limited time actually making more content while still giving you an incredibly easy way to find anything that interests you.
What could take me hours to add to a video takes less than 30 seconds for someone to open the description, find a number and get the information they actually want.
That's the entire idea: SEE IT → LIKE IT → FIND THE NUMBER → GET THE INFO.
I'm trying to make entertaining and informative videos, introduce people to cool knives and give them an easy way to learn more without covering the knife in information they may not even care about.
I love making these videos, and I'll continue doing the best I can with the time and resources I have. The format has to work for the viewer, but it also has to be realistic for the person creating it.
If my format works for you, I'm genuinely glad you're here. If it doesn't, that's okay too. There are plenty of great EDC creators out there, and you're always free to keep scrolling.
I'm just one guy doing something I enjoy and sharing some cool knives along the way. ????
