Our Cheap Boat Project Ep. 4 Fiberglassing and Foam
Published: 5 months ago
Hey Everyone! I’m excited to introduce a project that I began several years ago, which started as a cheap boat to get my wife, my dog, and I, out on the water! Unfortunately this seemingly simple project took a turn for the worst, and turned into an unforeseen complete rebuild.. and with the addition of our twin boys, a safe boat is priority.
I’ll be taking this 1989 Regal Medallion 185 bowrider boat and rebuilding it to better, and safer, than factory condition (that’s the plan anyway!). Follow along as I document the restoration progress, doing everything from wood work, fiberglass, engine and outdrive install, and an interior refresh. It’s a big project, but in the end it’ll be worth it!
In this episode I’ll be bringing the project up to date, and walking through the fiberglassing process, as well as getting started laying in the flotation foam in preparation for the floor installation.
Please note this is not an instructional or how to video! I am simply documenting the work being done, and giving some advice on how to make small steps of the process easier, based on my experience, should you find yourself tackling a similar project. Please make sure to do your own research!
Thanks for watching!
