GEC Medium Barlow in Dark Chestnut Sawcut Bone: Bravo, Mr. Latham!
Published: 9 years ago
Here's my initial review of the exquisite Great Eastern Cutlery Medium Barlow in Dark Chestnut Sawcut Bone, a Special Factory Order by Mike Latham of CollectorKnives.net. Following the success of the Tom's Choice Barlows in several SFO's by Charlie Campagna, and a couple SFO's in other patterns by Mike, most notabley the Improved Trappers of summer 2014, Mr. Latham has really outdone himself this time. Sensing the desire among collectors for a faithful Barlow in a larger size than the TC knives, Mike ordered a run of medium frame Barlows on GEC's new chassis. They come in 5 handle materials, but only one blade configuration, with two large blades, clip and wharncliffe (apparently Mike's favorite combo). Mike's vision, along with GEC's outstanding and ever improving quality make this knife extremely desirable, so much so in fact that other than a few abalone models, they were completely sold out before they ever hit Mike's website. Check out the video, gang -- the knife is a masterpiece!
