First Impressions -- Hinderer XM-18 Skinner: Evolution of a Masterpiece
Published: 9 years ago
Here are my initial thoughts about the Hinderer XM-18 Skinner, with flipper delete mod by TheApostleP Knife Service. Although this 4th generation of the XM is a logical evolution of the model, there's nothing ground breaking here, but rather some "tweaks" that keep the flagship of the company on top of its game, and at the top of the high end production folder market.
Changes for the Gen 4 include a re-tuned detent (which requires some detuning for optimum performance), and a re-located closed stop pin. Also new for the Gen 4 is the availability of the "Skinner" blade profile, which although an oxymoron in name, is a very cool blade shape. It's a bit thick, but possesses great utility and shearing capability. Great knife!
