Zero Tolerance ZT0808 Initial Review: Excellent Chunky EDC with a Fundamental Flaw

Published: 9 years ago

Here's my initial review of the excellent ZT0808 from Zero Tolerance. It's one of very few modern folders on my radar screen for 2015, but one I was excited enough about to purchase for my own collection. All in all, the 0808 is one of the best efforts to date from the high-end label of Kershaw / KAI. It's a bit of a heavyweight in the midsize EDC sebment, weighing in at 4.5 oz., but it wears its weight well for the most part. As framelock flippers on ball bearings go, it's better than most, with a firm but not quite insane detent, good flipping action, and a low profile flipper tab that works quite well. Were it not for a serious breech of fundamental construction wisdom in the backspacer area, this knife would be a 10 out of 10. As is... it's an 8.5.
