My Thoughts on the Chickadee | The Perfect Small EDC Fixed Blade?

My Thoughts on the Chickadee | The Perfect Small EDC Fixed Blade?

Published: 22 hours ago

In this video, I’m taking a close look at the Jakeb Creates Chickadee EDC fixed blade, a compact everyday carry knife that packs a lot of usefulness into a small, lightweight design. The Chickadee is a small fixed blade that is easy to carry in the pocket, on the belt, or even as a neck knife. It comes with a minimal leather-looking kydex sheath with excellent retention and a soft loop already installed for horizontal belt carry. This is the kind of fixed blade you can carry all day and almost forget it’s there. The blade is thinly ground NSM Wear steel, formerly known as CruWear, and it performs like a great EDC slicer. It holds an edge very well and handles everyday cutting chores without feeling overbuilt or bulky. Even though the blade is compact, it is still big enough to be useful for daily tasks. The handle may be small, but the contouring on the black Micarta scales makes it surprisingly comfortable in hand. The milling on the scales gives it just the right amount of grip without being too aggressive. For a small EDC fixed blade, the ergonomics are very well thought out. The Jakeb Creates Chickadee was OEM’d by Millit Knives and Jakeb Ginsberg of Jakeb Creates, and the quality really shows. If you’re looking for a non-threatening, lightweight, practical fixed blade for everyday carry, this one is definitely worth checking out. Let me know in the comments what you think of the Chickadee. Do you prefer carrying a small fixed blade, or are you still more of a folding knife person?
