Can I save my Grandfather’s old pocket knife?
In this video I take on a really personal restoration project: bringing my Grandad’s well‑worn pocket knife back to life. This isn’t a museum queen – it’s a hard‑used working knife that lived in his pocket for decades, and it shows every bit of that history.
You’ll see the complete process step‑by‑step, including:
• Careful disassembly without snapping old, brittle parts
• Removing deep rust while keeping the original grind lines and patina
• Straightening and tightening up worn pivots and springs
• Cleaning and reviving the original handle scales
• Sharpening the blade back to a true working edge
• Final reassembly, oiling, and walk‑and‑talk check
My goal here isn’t to make it look “brand new” – it’s to respect the story in the steel while making the knife usable for another generation.
