Buck 112 vs 110 | Which Actually Works Better?

Published: 4 days ago

Is the Buck 110 really the “must own” Buck… or is the Buck 112 actually the smarter EDC knife in 2026? In this video I put the buck 112 Ranger head‑to‑head with the buck 110 in real‑world use – pocket carry, belt carry, cutting tasks, and day‑to‑day comfort – and I’ll show you why I reach for the 112 far more often.

I’m Slippy from Slipjoint Sawyer. I’ve spent years restoring, reviewing, and actually carrying traditional folders – with a frankly unhealthy number of Bucks through this workshop – so my opinions come from real use, not catalogue photos. If you’re trying to decide between a buck 112 vs 110, this will save you from buying the wrong “iconic” knife for your life.

⏱ CHAPTERS:
0:00 – Buck 112 vs 110: the smarter EDC pick
0:57 – Size & weight: what you really feel in pocket
2:43 – Cutting performance: how much blade do you actually need?
4:15 – Is the Buck 110 REALLY better, or just bigger?
5:20 – Where the 112 beats the 110
6:02 - Strength and Durability Myth
6:22 – Who is the 110 right for?
6:50 – Clear verdict: which Buck should YOU buy?
7:20 – Now it's your turn!

???? WHAT YOU’LL LEARN:
• Why the buck 112 ranger often makes more sense as a true edc knife than the full‑size buck 110 folding hunter
• How size, weight, and bulk actually feel in‑pocket over a full day – not just on a spec sheet
• Real cutting performance: cardboard, packaging, cord, and light food prep with both knives
• The truth about “more blade” – when the extra length of the 110 helps, and when it’s just in the way
• Pocket carry vs belt sheath: which model fits modern everyday life better
• How nostalgia, movies, and legend make us buy knives we don’t really enjoy carrying
• A simple decision guide so you can confidently pick the right Buck for how you actually live

???? MY HONEST TAKE:
I love the history and heritage of the 110 – it’s a classic for a reason. But after years of real pocket time, the 112 keeps winning as my “grab it and go” Buck. It’s still a tough, traditional lockback with that unmistakable Buck feel… just tuned to be less of a boat anchor in your pocket.
If you’re mainly doing normal day‑to‑day cutting and want a traditional that disappears until you need it, the 112 is probably the better choice. If you’re hunting, running a belt rig, or chasing that old‑school look, the 110 can still be the right tool – and I’ll break down exactly which person each knife really suits.
