New Mule Team release from Spyderco! Meet CPM-REX76!

From 2007 to 2017, Spyderco turned out new Mule Team knives pretty regularly, usually a few each year. Each featured a new steel for knife enthusiasts to try out, many of which later appeared in production knives. Steels Spyderco debuted in the Mule Team project include M390, Elmax, Maxamet, CPM-20CV and many others that are familiar today. After 2017, the Mule Team releases were less frequent. There was one in SPY27 in 2020, and this one, in CPM-REX76, is the first we’ve seen since then. It was released Sept. 20, 2022 and sold out that same day. Will REX76 become a new material for future Spyderco knives, or will this be a short-lived experiment with an exotic high-speed tool steel? I’ll be finding out in the months ahead how this new knife steel stacks up.
