There are a lot of great survival and bushcraft knives that are big and budget friendly, but the Kizer Drop Bear Fix 7 may be the top option.

It was nice to see Kizer offer to steel options for this beast of a fixed blade right out of the gate. It is available in AEB-L and 1095 steel. We prefer AEB-L due to its corrosion resistance and ease of sharpening in the field, but its nice to have a higher carbon option too.
The 1095 steel version of this knife ships with G-10 handle scales and the AEB-L version ships with Micarta handle scales.
We spent a day chopping, batoning carving and hiking with the Kizer Drop Bear 7, and we were impressed with the performance it offered at the sub $100 price point. We will do a long form written review on this knife in the near future.
This knife ships with a kydex sheath that is capable of horizontal or vertical carry.
