The Spyderco Ouroboros Pocketknife Followup: Bronze Washer Swap and Disassembly
Published: 7 years ago
Today, a quick followup on the Ouroboros and my dreams of swapping the washers to Phosphor-Bronze to remedy the knife's biggest flaw.
Using the instructions in the link below, from the knife's designer, I was able to fix my own Ouroboros, and give it the silky-smooth action a compression lock knife deserves. But the process was not straightforward, and making tricky modifications to expensive knives (and voiding your warranty entirely in the process) just isn't a stellar plan.
So, my real recommendation is to wait for Spyderco to fix this issue themselves at the factory by installing real washers, and finally let this great design shine.
