There Are No Other Knives Quite Like This One!

This knife is owned by me. Here is the description as per the Herman Knives website where it was originally purchased.

"The "Aviator" project is devoted to the development of aviation at the beginning of the 20th century. Biplanes reigned in the sky in these times. Mother of pearl symbolizes the stormy sky and the central element around the pivot, the rotating propeller into the stormy night. The openwork structure of the handle resembles the spaces between the wings of a biplane.

Blade material is stainless damascus produced by Damasteel AB, Söderfors, Sweden.

“Bifrost” pattern has been chosen to represent the main idea of this knife: a tribute to the pioneers of aviation.

Heat treating and triple liquid nitrogen normalization bring optimal balance between hardness and toughness of the blade. Mirror polished and etched.

Titanium frames are precisely machined from 4al-3mo-1v alloy that is considered to be stronger than commonly used 6al4v alloy.

Polychrome anodized inserts around custom-made titanium pivot screws and carbon inserts are joined together by titanium scales with A-grade Australian mother-of-pearl inlays.

Bearings with ceramic balls and bronze retainers are produced and individually adjusted to each knife. The pivot barrel has a bronze bushing for smooth long-lasting rotation. All small screws are made from Grade 5 titanium, ceramic detent ball freely rotates for smoother action."
