Sneaky Hidden Feature on Knife
Published: 7 months ago
Where do I begin? Easily one of my favorite EDC knives I have received this year, the Kizer Varatas checks so many boxes. This Jacob Lundquist design features a hidden, reversible 3D pocket clip that is flushed elegantly into the frame - you wouldn’t even know it has an ambidextrous pocket clip at first site. There is a really cool square shaped pivot design and the whole knife has a balanced look and feel to it. Its so clean, yet so filled with so many wonderful little design aspects. Don’t even get me started on the frame’s machining details… they are BEAUTIFUL. The designer has 2 decade of experience as an Industrial Designer, CNC Machinist and Manufacturing Engineer so yeah, checks out.
As for feel, there is a cutout within the frame so you can sneak your finger in there for a VERY comfortable reverse flick (opening it up with the middle finger). It also offers a front flipper opening option, but I will always opt for the reverse flick way of opening as it is incredibly satisfying, especially when you have a model that is designed properly for it like this one. The click of the detent activating on this knife is music to my ears, the ball-bearing pivots are silky smooth.
For a frame lock knife, it’s relatively lightweight at 3 ounces and has a slick profile. I am NOT particular to frame locks most of the time but this one feels different for me - handle thickness comes in at only .4”. It is also available in a black variant (coated with black titanium). Seriously, Kizer x Lundquist knocked this one out of the park!
Overall Length: 7.70"Blade Length: 3.25”
Handle Length: 4.45"Blade Thickness: 0.11"Blade Material: CPM S35VN
Handle Material: Titanium
Weight: 3.00 oz.
