Reate finally make a Knife under $100

Published: 1 week ago

If you’ve ever wanted to buy a Reate but didn’t want to pay the premium price, now’s your chance. Reate has recently released a really solid EDC model for under $100.

The Horizon X crossbar lock features a new handle material that I hadn’t experienced before: FatCarbon Glass. It’s lightweight, durable, and has a beautiful shimmer as the sunlight reflects off the tiny crystal-like shards. The blade is made from another new material, Nitro X7 steel. Some have described it as “Nitro-V on steroids,” and it can be hardened up to 64 HRC. It offers an excellent balance of toughness, edge retention, and corrosion resistance.

The knife itself isn’t overly flashy in design, but it’s extremely functional. The liners are crowned along the edges, preventing hotspots during extended use. The blade comes razor-sharp out of the box, and the handle shape is both comfortable and, most importantly, secure in the hand.

The Horizon X is available with either a drop point or tanto blade.
