The Owner of TacKnives included this letter describing why the Mini Marlin was so hard to manufacture while also keeping it at an affordable price ($64). I thought it was too interesting to not include it as part of the video.

The TacKnives Mini Marlin is interesting in shape and grind. I’ve never owned a fixed blade with this profile and while I have a lot of knives featuring compound grinds, I’ve never had a compound ground knife where the hollow grind is closer to the tip of the blade.

Though the knife “looks tactical”, I would put this moreso in the realm of an EDC fixed blade. there is just enough guard near the index finger to make this a possible option for a backup self-defense blade. It also has the strong reinforced angles of a reverse tanto tip. I would be curious to know how the hollow grind affects the piercing capabilities as they tend to be weaker grinds and more geared towards precision cuts.

My only tiff about the blade is the micro choil but that would be easily fixed with a file.

The handle is slim. There is a thumb/ index finger ramp on the spine accompanied by aggressive jimping on it and below it. It is very comfortable in thumb-forward grip and index finger- forward grip.
