$60 Knife Chopped down a tree

Published: 1 week ago

A big ol boy! The SCHRADE “Leroy” survival knife actually surprised me a bit on the chopping! The length and thickness of the blade paired with the mid-saber grind really helped it bite and split down into wood. I got s excited I decided to go after that poor dead tree that was giving me the stink eye. After about nine minutes or so of really hard chopping, timber!

I Also attacked Frank momentarily (the ballistic dummy)

The knife tip is a clip point so there is some potential for piercing capabilities. The handle was moderately comfortable, I like the finger grooving but would liked it *even more* if it swelled out a bit on the sides (that is just my preference). Aus-8 still is supposed to be pretty tough so I was bummed that there was some slight chipping at the tip of the edge after chopping down the tree (but it is 64 bucks so I perhaps cannot complain too much)

I dislike the sheath because it’s made for right Handed use only and comes with a clip that was non-detachable. However, it would be relatively easy to snap off and attached to some sort of tech lock system. Overall, a fair budget option that sometimes goes on sale for under $50.
