Sharpening K390 at 67 HRC! Is This The Ultimate Test?
Published: 2 weeks ago
???? Welcome to JuhVon's Knife Flicks, your go to spot for honest knife reviews, EDC picks, and budget blade finds!
Today we're sharpening my Steve Collari Customs Tried and True fixed blade in K390 steel, heat-treated by Alex Steingraber to approximately 67 HRC, using the TS-PROF Cadet K2 sharpening system!
I'll walk through setting a 20-degree sharpening angle with the AxiCube T2, establishing a burr, and progressing through my Alpha abrasive stones from 100 to 600 grit before honing with a 1500-grit stone. I'm also trying Trend lapping fluid for the first time and sharing my approach to maintaining an even bevel, protecting the tip, and achieving the toothy working edge I prefer for cardboard and everyday cutting.
Do you prefer a toothy 600-grit working edge or a highly polished edge on your EDC knives? Let me know in the comments!
