Everything You Need To Know About the ProTech Pallas

Hey guys, I’m Jevon, and welcome to Jevon’s Knife Flicks!
Today we’re taking a first look at a brand new ProTech automatic knife from Spartan Harsey and ProTech, the Pallas Automatic.
This one came from my local knife store, Knives and More, in Huntsville, Alabama, and I was excited to get it home and give you guys a quick unboxing and overview.

The first thing that grabbed me about the Palaeus is that harpoon clip-point blade. It has a wicked profile, a functional thumb ramp, an aggressive piercing point, and a very thin grind that makes this a surprisingly slicey automatic.
And underneath that blade you've got MagnaCut, making this a particularly compelling USA-made EDC automatic.

The action is exactly what I’ve come to expect from ProTech, fast, crisp, and authoritative.
The blade fires hard, locks up extremely solid, and there is absolutely no blade play on the example I handled. The large gap in the blade tang mates against the stop pin when the knife fires, giving this thing a very solid, bank vault like lockup.
At around the size of a Spyderco Paramilitary 2, the Pallas is a great full size EDC automatic. It’s larger than my TRM Bulldog and roughly in the same overall territory as some of my favorite ProTech automatics, including the Strider SNG and Magic Whiskers 2.
I also really like what ProTech has been doing with newer blade steels. This Pallas comes with MagnaCut, continuing the move toward higher performance steels on newer ProTech models.
And, of course, you’re getting a USA made collaboration between Spartan Harsey and Pro-Tech, two American companies with serious reputations for building hard-use knives.
I believe this model comes in at around $270 at Knives and More, putting it comfortably under $300 for a premium USA-made automatic.
