Benchmade 535 Bugout: First Look and Overview!

Published: 7 years ago

Here we have a look at the new Benchmade Bugout, using a number of other Benchmades as comparison, especially the 531. The 535 stacks up well, with a number of good qualities (weight, grind, steel, axis lock strength) that make it compare favorably to alot of other lightweight models. The ergonomics are excellent, and really help it stand out from the 531.

So who is this for? Backpackers, campers, and anyone needing a sub 2 oz. Knife that can get small to medium sized tasks done. Also, if you held off from the 531 for price reasons (like I did for so long) this one comes in at a more affordable $115. The value on this one is very high, in my opinion.

The only real negatives I saw were the flex in the scales, which will be more supported when you have it in hand, and also the centering. Mine is pretty far off to the side, but doesn't rub.

Overall, I feel very lucky to get my hands on this one so quickly, and I hope to see some variations from Benchmade with G10, different colors, and different steels in the future.
