Why I'm Done With Gerber

Published: 7 years ago

A few of you have asked for it, so here's the story as to why I won't buy Gerber products ever again. My experience was a comedy of errors from start to finish, and every chance Gerber had to make things right they did something else that was silly or stupid and compounded the problem.

After the initial issue with the Cohort, nothing they did really hurt me (physically or financially) but their actions did make clear that this was not a company that has their business practices in line, and not one that I should choose to support.

Are there good Gerber knives and tools out there? Yes, of course. I still own a few of them. And are there some smart and excellent people working at the company? Absolutely, I have to believe that. But there was enough bad in my experience for me to be done giving them chances, so that's where I am.

I'm sure many of you will disagree with my opinion, and that's fine. We build a bond with the knives and tools we use, and Gerber tools have done that for tons of people. I understand brand loyalty, and if you have some for Gerber, I'm happy that you do. But that's not my story.

So what is your story? Good or bad, Gerber or any other company, I'd love to hear it. Let me know!
