Cut Test: CJRB Ria with AR-RPM9 steel (Knife Content)
Published: 4 years ago
Non-super steels seem to be easier to do cut tests with. Like this Micarta CJRB Ria with their budget particle steel AR-RPM9. With the cut test, I got 320 cuts through the 3/8" twisted sisal rope before portions of the blade could not slice through paper.
I don't fully have a great understanding of where that stands at the moment, which is why the next knife to the chopping block (literally) is the CJRB Kicker.
Since so many liken the edge retention of AR-RPM9 with D2, it seemed like a good fit to get me some context for how their D2 behaves. That, and the blade shape is a bit easier to do board cuts with than the Centros and Briar models I have. And I wanted to mix it up a bit and not use the Feldspar 3.5".
