Boker Kalashnikov 74 XXL in D2: Review & Teardown (Knife Content)
Published: 3 years ago
Absolute Unit of a knife.
This takes the standard Kalashikov 74 and blows it up in length. It's only available in the bowie-style clip point design, and only in D2 steel. The blade is heavily stonewashed, which is awesome.
This thing took FOREVER to sharpen. I'm going to guess this is on the very higher end of HRC... of course, even their AUS-8 blade took longer than usual to sharpen.
It's not quite as strong of a spring as the normal models, but that's for the best. It's not lazy though.
Interestingly enough, even though this is scaled up quite a bit, they kept the same 3 mm blade stock rather than beefing that up more. I actually appreciate that.
I thought it a novelty at first, but once I got it out and open and used it, this thing is surprisingly comfortable in my bigass hands. Considering carrying it semi-regularly.
Specs:
4.6" D2 blade with 3.0 mm stock thickness
6.42 oz / 182 gram weight
0.56" handle thickness (Aluminum)
Button Lock
Nylon Washer
