Samior Badness: CF413 & G1028 (Knife Content)
Published: 3 years ago
Straight up: These knives suck. For both of them, I do provide alternatives in the same price range that you'll be happy with.
First up is the G1028. The detent is way too soft on it which is a bit annoying. The egregious thing is how the liner lock is designed. It has a serrated bit that pokes out from the flat handle that makes it uncomfortable to use in the standard hammer grip.
Next the CF413. Unlike the older S001 I took a look at, this is a G10 handle with an outside diamond of CF sticker/laminate on the top.
Strike one with the mis-reported materials
This one also has the serrated proud liner that the other one does, and I feel the same way.
It also appears as though they measured the blade length from the end of the tang, so it's significantly shorter than what's reported in the stats. That blade, while being D2, was quite dull out of the box. It's angles were correct, it just seemed like they didn't finish.
And finally, the barrel spacers on this knife pass through the liners and handle scales rather than sit in them, so it's VERY tedious to put this thing back together if you disassemble it.
G1028 Specs:
2.8" D2 blade with 3.15 mm stock thickness
2.53 oz / 71.5 gram weight
0.49" handle thickness (G10)
Liner Lock
Steel bearings & detent ball
CF413 Specs:
4" D2 blade with 3.7 mm stock thickness
4.07 oz / 115 gram weight
0.50" handle thickness (G10)
Liner Lock
Steel bearings & detent ball
