Civivi Imperium: Shred CF & 3.41" Nitro-V steel - Review & Teardown (Knife Content)

Published: 3 years ago

This guy was a bit more slender than I anticipated from the photos. As far as blade height is concerned at least.

It's a lot of fun to fidget with as the thumbstud and front flipper work great. That being said, the action isn't stupendous due to the sand-blast finish of the blade and the coated liners. It may break in more, but it'll take a looooong time.

The handle scales are attractive and shiny. Taking them off reveals they're more of a smattering of shred CF and metal flake encased in resin and the black liners fill in the missing blanks. More for aesthetics than for durability.

Nitro-V steel is interesting and I'm glad it's being used more often now. It's basically a variant of AEB-L that a lot of custom makers utilize. It's not crazy high end, but floats around the mid-range alongside 154CM, 14C28N and the sort.

Specs:
3.41" Nitro-V blade with 2.9mm stock thickness
2.92 oz / 82.5 gram weight
0.52" handle thickness (Shred CF)
Liner Lock
Ceramic bearings & detent ball
