Slippy-J Sunday: TwoSun TS123 in M390 (Knife Content)

Published: 3 years ago

This is one of my favorite slipjoint designs so far. It ain't a featherweight for sure, but it's got a lot of great things going.

One, it's a Wong design. You already know this guy tailors most of his knives to accomodate a wide variety of hand sizes, including the larger ones.

Two, the blade is very slicey. Thin bladestock compared to most slipjoints from TwoSun and that makes it quite capable.

Three, great walk and talk. I'd say it has about a 6/10 for spring tension. It's not a struggle to get out at all due to the matchstick pulls on both sides, but it's not going to fold shut on you in the blink of an eye either.

Four, nice pocket clip. Since this is a bit on the larger size for slipjoints and heavier than most due to the copper and titanium handles, it's great to have a pocket clip so it doesn't feel like you have a loose 18650 battery swingin' away in the bottom of your pocket.

Yes, this is in M390, yes it has OK to mediocre performance for the steel, but I do give slipjoints a bit of a break from HRC numbers. They're easier to maintain with lower rockwell hardness, and they're not "hard use folders" at all.
