TwoSun Tuesday: TS139-UP "Barracuda" Mazwan Mokhtar Design in S90V (Knife Content)
Published: 3 years ago
This one's a bit flip-floppy for me.
The wharncliffe design is OK and it's very sleek, but I do have some problems with this.
The S90V blade on mine here isn't doing a fantastic job. The heat treat is too soft on it. That's my knife specifically, but something to keep in mind if you intend to drop some serious cash on it.
The other thing is that the opening of this isn't the easiest. It has a top-mounted thumb disc like Emersons, but there's no knurling on it, so you just slip off of it. It's also too close to the scales without a cutout so you don't get much access to it either.
The front flipper doesn't work nearly as well as it does on other models. You don't have much leverage from an extended bit of the blade and the detent is a bit weak, so it's much more suited to the thumb roll, rather than flicking it out.
One last thing that may or may not be the case. I noticed the edge is rolled a bit, right at where the back post of the knife is placed. It's possible that it was my fault and I bumped it during dis/reassembly, but if it does make contact, that's just not OK.
Specs:
3.5" S90V blade with 4 mm stock thickness
4.42 oz / 125 gram weight
0.55" handle thickness (Ti)
Frame Lock
Ceramic bearings & detent ball
