Slippy-J Sunday: Kancept Bevy - Nick Swan Design in Shred CF & S35VN (Knife Content)
Published: 3 years ago
First thing's first: I wish this was larger.
That being said, it's not a bad design at all. It may be a good 5th pocket knife, but I do find the blade to be a bit short for larger tasks.
The blade stock is pretty darn thick, especially out toward the tip. Probably a bit too thick for its length. It has a bit of a finger guard out in front, but it's not especially effective at protecting fingers if the blade were to close.
It has a cam tang, so a lazy half-stop. The spring itself is pretty darned weak. I'd give it a 2.5 - 3.0 for the pull. As I was sent the wrong variant of this at first, I've also handled the G10 version with 154CM steel, and the spring was identical.
As I state in the video, they make this exact knife in a lockback, called the "Wedge" if you'd prefer a lock. With how weak the spring is, that might be my suggestion.
The CF is done fairly well. There are some tiny voids around the contours of the scales, but you really have to pull the thing in close for an examination to spot them.
Specs:
2.44" S35VN blade with 3.0 mm stock thickness
2.15 oz / 61 gram weight
0.43" handle thickness (Shred CF)
Bronze Washers & Cam Tang
