TwoSun Tuesday: TS202-LM RattleSnake Design in (improved) Micarta & 14C28N Blade
Published: 3 years ago
This thing is a landmark for TwoSun... it's not a phenomenal design, but the newer micarta is a huge leap forward. While they still use their older micarta on some things, they're also utilizing this which is much more preferable.
The knife itself will be pretty darn comfortable for normal hand sizes. It's a bit cramped for my large fingers, due to the beak on the end of the handle.
Otherwise though, this thing is pretty good. Blade shape and length is great for a hawkbill, the flipper tab doesn't curl down onto your fingers due to the angle, the deep carry clip doesn't seem to be uncomfortable to me in the normal grips, blade is protected when closed and has some great jimping.
You have great lockbar access, but without chamfering, it can get a little uncomfortable when a lot of force is used.
Also, it's not the most sightly thing I've seen, but the sharpening choil put in this gives you plenty of sharpenings.
Wong and NightMorning have created some hawkbill blades that fit a wider range of hand sizes, but they're newer models, and not quite as deep of a curve as this.
Specs:
3.56" 14C28N blade with 3.7 mm stock thickness
4.8 oz / 136 gram weight
0.64" handle thickness (Micarta)
Liner Lock
Ceramic bearings & detent ball
