Fixed Blades, Ahoy! CJRB Silax & TwoSun TS253-M390

Published: 2 years ago

I got myself two very different sized fixed blades.

The first is from TwoSun, the TS253-M390. Follows in a lot of their other micro fixed blades, where the blade itself is way too damn small, and they use their "Meh-carta" for the handle scales. If you're looking for a two-finger fixed blade you can use for a neck knife, or boot knife or whatnot, it'll do. I still think the TS247 is MUCH better for a micro knife though.

The other is the CJRB Silax. I wanted something a bit larger of a fixed blade, so I could play around with batoning, and it being in AR-RPM9 Steel was a bonus. It's a Dylan Mallory design. It's very thin, so probably easy to fit in a pack and could probably be a pretty good camp food prep knife.

The sheath though, is not its strong suit. The plastic they utilized is either too thin, or too soft, so it's flexible. It also doesn't grab ahold of the blade as securely as I'd like. It's not loose, just doesn't have as much positive retention as others. It also doesn't come with anything to attach it to your person other than the cord tied to it, but a 5" neck knife doesn't seem practical.
