Miguron & Maxace & TwoSun, Oh My! (First Impressions)
Published: 2 years ago
The Miguron Vera: Classy looking compact front flipper. It falls prey to what most compact straight designs do, and has the edge of the blade WAY too close to the spine of the handle. Also, the geometry is quite thick; definitely not designed for slicing acuity. More for letter opening and whatnot. This one had a weak detent, as well as detent lash, but looked to pass by 2 QC points judging by the packaging. Hopefully it was a fluke that happened on a Friday afternoon.
The Maxace Heron-K: This is a big-ol' tactical folder. It's more expensive than your average Chinese G10/D2 knife, but it does have some extra features to justify that cost increase. Starting with multirow steel bearings in the pivot, and a crowned blade tang for reduced friction on the crossbar lock. The pocket clip is abysmal though. The K110 (D2) blade was a bitch to sharpen.
TwoSun TS385: This colorful little thing, I didn't quite realize was little when I purchased it. I did look at the specs, but I guess the only thing that processed was the thin blade stock that got me excited. So, yes, it is small, but can be used as a comfortable 3-finger grip, or a full 4-finger. The front flip is really satisfying on it, and the "Gmascus" design is attractive.
TwoSun TS380: This thing puts a smile on my face. It's super comfortable in hand, and the dramatic drop point gets the tip of the blade further down, but still can jab with the best of 'em. The designer's name being fairly "Cyrillic" makes a lot of sense to me. This thing has the look and feel of a Russian/Polish military issue. I'm looking forward to anodizing the titanium a nice bronze color to match my vision of it.
