TwoSun Tuesday: TS334 NightMorning Design in Polished Micarta With 2.99" 14C28N Blade
Published: 2 years ago
Jumping this one up in line per a comment/request.
This, like many, is using TwoSun's "Meh-carta". These are polished though, and as such, reminds me of Boker Solingen's burlap micarta and it doesn't bother me nearly as much as others. The TS159 also uses this polished micarta.
This thing is nicely contoured, so you get a hand-filling grip. My hands have no problems getting all four fingers on the handle, which is impressive for a sub 3" blade.
Thumbstuds are a bit pointy if you rotate the blade open with the pad of your thumb, but works fantastically for flicking it open. They also act as the stop pins for the open position. It's also an effective front flipper, even though it doesn't quite look like it would be.
Nested liners are a nice touch, and the multirow bearings were unexpected as well. This thing IS built to a price though, and as such, the liners aren't skeletonized which would cut down on the weight. It's not heavy, but could have been lighter.
The heel had some "snaggletooth" out of the box, so I did take that down a bit on my belt grinder. Annoying, but just a fact of life at this point for TwoSun as a whole.
Specs:
2.99" 14C28N blade with 3.7 mm stock thickness
4.24 oz / 120.5 gram weight
0.57" handle thickness (Micarta)
Liner Lock
Multirow Ceramic bearings & detent ball
