TwoSun Tuesday: TS228 "Aurora" Jelly-Jerry Design in Ti & CF with 14C28N Blade
Published: 2 years ago
Here, we have the Aurora. This thing has been out for quite some time and retains it's sell value more than a lot of other TwoSuns seem to.
It's got a touch of a compound grind at the tip just for some extra structural support.
A lot of things about this one in particular confuse me though. The handle isn't particularly comfortable for me. It's not pokey at the back-end. It's mostly the underside. Where that hump is, is directly where my middle finger wants to nestle in, and it can't. That, and it's a bit boxy down there, so it doesn't feel good to grip it tightly. And lastly, the hole in the blade isn't large enough or accessible enough to utilize it for deployment.
It's a much newer design, but if you're looking for a blade like this, I'd suggest looking to the TS215 "Stork". It doesn't have the compound grind at the blade tip... and doesn't have a flipper tab either. But, the blade is pretty effectively the same, the ergos work much better, it's a front flipper, as well as having an accessible hole from both sides for deployment as well.
Specs:
3.48" 14C28N blade with 3.75 mm stock thickness
4.43 oz / 126 gram weight
0.62" handle thickness (Ti & CF)
Frame Lock
Ceramic bearings & detent ball
