Kizer Begleiter XL Button Lock: 3.9" 154CM Blade with Micarta Scales
Published: 2 years ago
First up, this version is a White Mountain Knives exclusive, and unlike their others, this seems to have sold out fairly quickly. Not sure if they'll be getting more stock in.
This thing is great. It's all sorts of big like a Cold Steel but has more opening options and fidget-ability. Stonewashed finish on the large blade is great. It does have "shadowboxed" liners like all other Begleiters, but they didn't increase how much liner is exposed over the others, which makes it comfortable for me.
The Multirow bearings are a nice touch. It rockets out with the thumbstud, and centrifugal deployment is great. They added a flipper tab to it for another deployment method. This, I have mixed feelings about.
I know flipper tabs are vastly popular these days. It works OK on this, but the detent from the button lock is a bit weak for the flipper, so you gotta give it the gusto for it to fully deploy. That, and the flipper can hit my finger when closing the knife. It leads me to kicking around the idea of removing the flipper. I haven't done a mod like that on a knife thus far.
Specs:
3.9" 154CM blade with 3.2 mm stock thickness
5.37 oz / 152 gram weight
0.56" handle thickness (Micarta)
Button Lock
Multirow Ceramic bearings & detent ball
