Miguron Akri: 3.78" DC53 Blade with G10 Scales

Published: 2 years ago

Well, this thing ended up being larger than I thought, by quite a bit. I'm not complaining at all. I had known that this was a size inbetween the Vaso and the Velona, but didn't realize how much closer to the Velona it was.

This thing has a lot of the same creature comforts of the other budget offerings, but the G10 is contoured rather than slab, and the liners aren't "shadowboxed" (thank goodness).

The front flipper works great on this, and it's a bit easier for me as it's larger than the Vaso. It might irk some people that it's the only deployment method, but I'm just fine with that.

The machining on the blade still isn't immaculate, but nowhere near as egregious as my Velona. You can see a bit of waver or "jitter" in the crowning out near the tip of the blade. It's blade geometry is also better behind the edge than the Vaso. Not super thin, but not a wedge like the Vaso is.

I think this is my favorite of Miguron's budget offerings at this point. Their DC53 does a great job, even though it is more difficult to sharpen than D2. But still, it's close to a G10/D2 flipper, but with a titanium clip and crowning for $40. Damned good value.
