QSP Mamba V2: Another Great, Highly Affordable Piece
Published: 2 years ago
Mamba is a fitting name for this thing. It's quite agile, like venomous asps.
I view this as a great knife in the line of the Penguin and Parrot. VERY affordable, but quality piece. It's just longer than those other two... and has bearings in the pivot.
The "V2" moniker, from what I can tell, modified the grind of the blade to save cost, but I think it improved the geometry in the process since it's now a full flat grind behind the edge.
The drop-clip blade is very useful. Less of a "clip" than just tapering the drop to thin out the tip of the blade a bit.
To nit-pick it, I do not like "shadowboxed" liners in general, which this thing has. It's not egregious here, but still wish they'd stick with flush scales since you interface the most with the top and bottom of the handle.
And one other thing that's more of a wish: Offer this in the denim micarta that the Penguin has. Slightly less grip, but that material is very pleasant in the hand, and still a bit unique.
Specs:
3.45" (87.7mm) D2 blade with 3.15 mm stock thickness
3.45 oz / 98 gram weight
0.51" (12.8mm) handle thickness (Micarta)
Liner Lock
Ceramic bearings & detent ball
