TwoSun Tuesday: TS306 "Reaper" Mazwan Mokhtar Design in Ti & CF with 14C28N Blade
Published: 2 years ago
This is a pretty large knife with a ton of belly.
Mine was from the first run that has 14C28N steel, but they've now made them with M398 which is an interesting steel that hasn't quite caught on, maybe due to the massive familiarity with M390. It sacs a little corrosion resistance, but still one of the best, and ups the edge retention a bit.
The flipper tab points up rather than out, so it keeps the profile a bit smaller in the pocket. Limits it to a lightswitch motion for it, but it's how I use flippers 95% of the time anyway.
Ergos are pretty good if you're looking for a chungus. It doesn't have a cutaway to help with lockbar access though. The blade hole works great for a Spidey Flick, but it's too buried in the handle for thumb access.
The clip is Mazwan's ball-tip clip. It's a little easier to get into the pocket than others due to having a bit more flex in the clip, but they're still less than ideal in my opinion for an interface between clip and scale.
The CF on this is a single piece that's mounted from the inside. It has a couple screws inside that hold it onto the Ti, but there's also adhesive applied, so if you want to remove them, you gotta work hard for it (honey).
Specs:
3.66" 14C28N blade with 3.85 mm stock thickness
5.45 oz / 154.5 gram weight
0.58" handle thickness (Ti & CF)
Frame Lock
Ceramic bearings & detent ball
