Kizer Chili Pepper: Cute Concept Executed Well

Published: 2 years ago

This is a small front flipper. You don't get choices on the colorway, but that makes sense as it's mimicking a chili. I kinda like that it doesn't come in 4 different micarta versions, or grape, cherry & orange flavors.

I appreciate women in the cutlery industry and the designer is that. Not unconditional praise for anyone who happens to have differing genitals, but she's made some other great models including the Kizer Swayback and it's always nice to have diversity in professions and interests.

This thing has a downturned handle and a trailing point blade, so it'll feel quite a bit different than most straight-handled knives out there. With my big-ass hands, I can get a 4-finger grip if I choke up, but the 3 finger grip nestles nicely and feels secure.

The action is typical recent Kizer in nature. As near as makes no difference, it's free swinging with the button depressed.

With my larger hands, I find the thumb studs are too far back on the blade for me to easily deploy, but the front flipper works a treat, and so does the centrifugal fling, so I don't feel like I'm missing much there.
