TwoSun Tuesday: TS154 Jelly-Jerry Design in Ti & CF Scales With D2 Blade
Published: 2 years ago
I like this thing more than I anticipated! Short and chunky knives can be great, but I've had some that don't work out too well.
This thing shares a bit of geometry with the TS228 Monarch, where it has thick blade stock, but it comes down to an amazingly thin edge. As such, the only issue I've had with this thing is cutting through thick layered cardboard, but virtually nothing but a box cutter blade can overcome that friction anyway.
You get a ton of power with cuts. The jimping is extended out a ways on the blade, and I'm all for it. This is under a 3" blade, so that basically guarantees that I won't have a 4-finger grip without choking up, but the 3-finger grip is very comfortable.
Its blade shape allows me to curl my finger on top, if I'm looking to do some utility cuts with a lot of pressure at the tip. Your mileage may vary on this though, as I have long fingers.
I do kinda wish the blade tang when deployed reached the bottom of the handle scales for a bit more comfort when choked up, but it's not a deal breaker by any means.
Specs:
2.79" (70.8mm) D2 blade with 3.8 mm stock thickness
4.39 oz / 124.5 gram weight
0.56" (14.2mm) handle thickness (Ti & CF)
Frame Lock
Ceramic bearings & detent ball
