TwoSun Tuesday: TS153-Color Wong Design in Ti & Micarta With 3.78" D2 Blade
Published: 2 years ago
I thought this thing looked interesting, and the lightning strike ano does look striking against the canvas micarta onlays, but wow this thing has some troubles.
First off, we have a single attachment point into micarta... something Wong had dealt with on previous models, but it slipped through the cracks here.
Second, the micarta onlays create a ton of hot spots all along the handle. It's not bad in a pinch grip, but both saber grip and hammer grip is fairly uncomfortable.
Overall, This thing has a lot of similarities to the TS337. I'd highly recommend that knife over this one. You get (essentially) the same blade shape and length, a thinner handle that's MUCH more comfortable and a stable clip that won't develop play over time.
Specs:
"3.78 (95.9mm) D2 blade with 3.8 mm stock thickness
4.24 oz / 120 gram weight
0.63" (15.9mm) handle thickness (Ti & Micarta)
Sub-Frame Lock
Ceramic bearings & detent ball
