SixLeaf SL-15: Light Weight Titanium Bolster Lock with Some Downsides

Published: 2 years ago

So, there's a lot going for this thing, but a few downsides.

On the positive, this thing has great, drop-shutty action. It's a titanium frame(ish) lock that's under an ounce an inch. Finally, I do like the two tone micarta that they've employed on this thing, as well as the SL-18. The texture on it is nice and grippy and reminds me of wood.

On the negative, with the micarta scales, this thing turns into basically a titanium liner knife with an integrated bolster. It's not a terrible thing, but doesn't feel quite as rigid as a result. The thing that irritates me the most though, is the pinned construction of the titanium under the micarta. It makes it much more difficult than it should be for doing maintenance on the knife. There's also the fact that it's retailing for close to $100 and I don't think it's worth quite that much.

At the end of the day though, it's one of very few titanium bolster/frame locks that hits that ounce/inch metric, so you can easily carry it in light clothes.
