TwoSun Tuesday: TS349-Micarta NightMorning Design in Ti & Micarta with 2.88" D2 Blade

Published: 2 years ago

I'm really liking this thing. The blade reminds me a lot of an old pattern known as the "Elephant Toe" (or in Finch's case, the "Buffalo Tooth").

It's an under 3 inch blade that I can comfortably grip without much compromise. The action is quite nice, but I do attribute some of that with the thicker blade stock on it. It's fairly boxy, so it's not winning any sleek awards, but that extra height helps you secure it in hand without fear of it twisting.

This variant has canvas micarta scales on it. It falls victim to the single attachment point for the pocket clip. While their canvas micarta is a bit more durable than their previous "meh-carta", it can still get damaged over time, leading to a loose clip. The upside? They make a full textured titanium variant that's going to be a better buy. It's a little heavier, but is going to be much more durable.

This is one of a few blades in D2 that I've decided to reprofile down to 15 degrees rather than 17. The blade is quite tall, and I wanted something a bit thinner behind the edge for some more scalpel-like precision out of it. I'm happy with the results.
