TwoSun Tuesday: TS389 Nick Rodgers Design Integral Ti & CF Handle with M390 Blade
Published: 2 years ago
Damn, I really love this thing. Integral frame locks are built weird compared to their contemporary cousins. Because of that, the action for it isn't super drop shutty. It uses some of their smaller circumference bearings and more of a cartridge for the pivot.
Still, it's a really nice design on the smaller side. Crowned spine on the M390 blade is a nice touch. There's been a TON of milling done on the handle, so the show side has pockets milled in it. The CF inlay is screwed in, but it's also been adhered, so a full teardown is fairly difficult. It was necessary for the internally mounted pocket clip. Helps get it under that ounce/inch metric.
I would whole-heartedly suggest buying this from White Mountain Knives rather than Amazon. At the time of this writing, Amazon has it listed for $275, and WMK has it for $220 (eligible for their 10% off as well, which gets it just under $200).
Specs:
3.13" (79.4 mm) M390 blade with 3.25 mm stock thickness
2.95 oz / 83.5 gram weight
0.55" (13.9 mm) handle thickness (Ti & CF)
Frame Lock
Ceramic bearings & detent ball
