TwoSun Tuesday: TS142 Mazwan Mokhtar Integral in Ti, CF & Micarta with M390 blade

Published: 2 years ago

I'm really enjoying this knife and I think a lot of others do too. It contains the pivot collar that's ad;lfkjas, much like the Andrew Demko collar, but mentions the country of origin. If you don't like that, this won't be the one for you unless you modify the collars yourself.

As I mentioned in the video, this thing is very similar to the fixed blade "Puffer", but incorporates design elements from the "Pandemic" and "Lockdown" models.

For preference, I like the 2-tone color scheme of the CF and Micarta that this and the 301 use, but it's not universally appreciated. I think it'd be a bit ordinary looking if it just had CF, or was missing the micarta inlays altogether, but I can also understand that the tan color might not gel with your wardrobe if aesthetics or fashion are overly important for you.

The action is great on this thing. I've put Skiff bearings in mine. Not for any meaningful reason, as the standard bearings work great, but it does add a touch more rigidity to the pivot which seems fitting for an integral.

Like the Jelly-Jerry TS223 Monarch, it's got a 4mm blade stock which is a bit overkill, but the cutting geometry is still quite good, and helps with the drop shut nature of the blade.

Specs:
3.14" (79.7 mm) M390 blade with 4 mm stock thickness
4.02 oz / 114 gram weight
0.53" (13.5 mm) handle thickness (Ti & CF & Micarta)
Integral Frame Lock
Ceramic bearings & detent ball
