This is a wild departure from their "mehcarta". This stuff is fairly unique to me. It's layered like they've done with some G10 in the past, and it's highly dense like it was set under much more pressure than most Micarta is.
It's got a callout pivot collar, one of the first ones I remember seeing. It's convex in shape, so it'd be more difficult for someone to uniformly grind down if that's a mod you'd be interested in attempting. It is titanium though, so that's nice.
Pretty questionable color for the G10 thumbstuds on this one. Something with a subdued earth tone like tan or OD green, or black would have probably made a better choice. I'm guessing these might have been made from the G10 scraps of the TS259, 268 & 280.
Blade's great though, with just a slight hint of a recurve for keeping things engaged with the blade and a tad thinner of a blade stock than is usual for the company. I also don't have any troubles with handle ergonomics.
As we see during the disassembly, the tolerances for the steel liners might not have been the best on this one. I don't remember having much difficulty when I got it, so the tolerances might have floated out over a few years of weather and pressure differences.
Specs:
3.42" (86.9 mm) 14C28N blade with 3.6 mm stock thickness
4.23 oz / 120 gram weight
0.61" (15.4 mm) handle thickness (Micarta)
Liner Lock
Ceramic bearings & detent ball
