TwoSun Tuesday: TS17-C NightMorning Design in Titanium with 3.52" D2 Blade
Published: 1 year ago
Well, this is a little unusual. I refer to it as a lazy recurve tanto, with a drop point. It works fine. I think I brought out my nightmare of a Spyderco Captain during the review, but it’s a bit more conventional than that.
This is a very early model. As such, the geometry is more on the robust side rather than crazy thin behind the edge that they mostly produce now. It’s not poor geometry, but newer ones are usually slicier.
You can certainly tell that this is a rather recent production run, as it’s a very old model, but they’ve only very recently offered their lightning strike anodized finish.
I’m a little… nah, I was going to say jaded or “over” the anodized finishes, but that’s not quite right. I just prefer the sandblast finish as they have much better grip. They need to polish the titanium for the ano to show through, and that can make them slicker than I want. They look great, but a bit less usable.
Specs:
3.52" (89.5 mm) D2 blade with 3.8 mm stock thickness
4.37 oz / 124 gram weight
0.50" (12.8 mm) handle thickness (Ti)
Frame Lock
Ceramic bearings & detent ball
