TwoSun Tuesday: TS79 NightMorning Design in Titanium & Foil CF Laminate with 2.91" D2 Blade

Published: 1 year ago

This one’s a blast from the past. So far in the past, that it was discontinued long before I started buying them.

This is a small frame lock with a subdued flipper tab. I say “small” as in less than 3” blade, which is honestly kinda rare for locking blades from the company. The inlay isn’t anything special, but looks nice. It’s the carbon fiber laminate with red and silver foil in the twill. Artisan/CJRB have used this on a couple knives since then, being laminated onto G10.

The blade is pretty thick up top, but the geometry is certainly better than a lot of other old models. This thing, while I’m not the first owner, was crazy sharp out of the box, with no telltale signs of sharpening or stropping happening before I got it.

However, the detent ramp does look to be a user mod, as the channel is enormous compared to how they implement them. It still works fine, but doesn’t look to be “factory fresh” in that way.

If you want a smaller titanium framelock for those warm summer days that are coming up, it’s not a bad choice… albeit they’re impossible to find.
